No doubt spurred on by stress from dealing with his boss, Alma, Emile decided to take a smoking break, but it seems no smoking is allowed on the ship they are staying on for the moment sooooo he does it outside. Not the brightest move, seeing as you sorta need a helmet in space!
It also seems like he is a smidgen heavier than normal here... probably from hanging out with Alma so much.
I did some experimenting here with the suit design and color scheme, trying to get a look down that is not just pitch black like the older design he had going for him.
Also, was really really super awesome here and is responsible for the shading and stylish lighting, thanks a ton sis
Vision: The most important thing about space settings are their ability to mystify and dazzle the viewer. That being said, I feel the backdrop in this drawing is a tad underwhelming. Stars are merely light from outer space; there is no need to have a black outline around "light." Also cigarette smoke is white, but you probably knew that already Jack.
Originality: The idea of a "space weasel" is pretty original on its own. I did a Google search for "space weasel" and got a surprising number of results, but very few of them had an actual weasel. If you provide more context to your idea, I can give this a much higher score.
Technique: I think the line quality is inconsistent when comparing the mechanism behind Lalique to Lalique herself, it’s sort of everywhere on that metal door. The line art on the character is pretty good for the most part, but the mechanism needs to be of the same quality of detail since it's so close.
Impact: If you can make the space scenery more awe-inspiring, that would help a great deal with the impact. Perhaps adding a distant planet or something else other than stars in the sky can probably remedy this.
Overall: The notion of smoking in a space helmet is humorous and mildly entertaining. It made me smile.
In all seriousness, this a great piece. The colors and the line works are phenomenal, though I do question the practicality of smoking inside a space suit. I guess he really needed that smoke, because his head is going to smell like space-tobacco or whatever it is he's smoking. Well I hope he enjoys it while it lasts, because now Alma is probably going to complain about the smell. XP
Hey I am working on streamlining things, and I think it is working!
And thank you sir, you won't imagine how long this took to make D: Unfortunately, Emile will not have a smoking break as long as I think he would like... not very practical. And he will smell... bad. Then Alma will like...gah I dunno what she will do, bathe him I guess XD
Hah, well this is a fun enough concept. I recall you showing this to me before. I rather like the concept too. Utterly ridiculous, and yet fun at the same time. Oh the lengths to which he would go through. You'd think he would invest in some sort of smoke filter system or something.
Fun for us, maybe not for him.... that smoke ain't gonna help him in the short run I think. I found the idea crazy enough to be worth looking into he must reeeeeeeeeeaaaally need that one.
And I think a filter would be good, you know, so he could breathe! I doubt he will be out there for more than a few minutes
Emile, I don't think you're cigarette break is gonna last too long. Unless he likes not being able to breathe. Awesome job with all the little details of his suit design. Nice work!
